Fasting to Feast on GOD

Imagine what is happening in the heavens when the Church is united with fasting and prayer for 40 days. When exercised with a pure heart and the right motives, fasting provides us with a key to unlock doors where other keys have failed. It creates an open window to new horizons in the unseen world, and it provides a spiritual weapon that is, “mighty, to the pulling down of strongholds.”

“Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions…So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer.” (Ezra 8:21-23) Fasting is always connected with seeking, drawing near to, and prevailing with GOD.  Fasting is an invitation for the LORD to drive back the powers of evil. It is calculated to give an edge to Christian intercession and power to their petitions. GOD is ready to bend His ear and hear those who humble themselves in fasting and prayer.

Suggested Ways to Join Us in Fasting

Juice Fasting:  Fruit and vegetable juices along with water.

Liquid Fast: Liquids of any kind.

Water Fasting: Water only

Complete Fast: No food or drink. (3 days only)

Note: It is critical that you consult with your doctor about any health care needs you have before fasting. Also, only Daniel fast if you are pregnant.

Other Things to Sacrifice

No Sweets: No desserts, snacks, etc. that are made with sugar.

Drinks:  No soda or coffee

Media fast: No TV, radio, computer or cell phone media

Sexual Fast: Married couples must “agree” to abstain from sexual intimacy.

The purpose of all fasts, or sacrifices, is to give up something that has value to you. It must be a sacrifice or it doesn’t count as a fast. We suggest that you make it a sacrifice that removes barriers and draws you closer to God.
